Home Remedies For Wart Removal

Warts are unsightly growths that are caused by the Human Papilloma Virus. They are contagious and they can be extremely difficult to get rid of. While it is usually best to see a physician for the treatment of warts, many people just plain can not afford to. It can cost hundreds of dollars for one treatment and even if it works, there are no guarantees that they will not come back at some point. While there are many home remedies for warts available, those listed below are the most popular. Keep in mind that there are no quick home remedies for warts. They will take some time and patience in order for them to work:

  • In many cases, warts will go away without any intervention. If they are painless and inconspicuous, it might be best just to let them run their course.
  • Apply a piece of duct tape to the wart, ensuring that the entire wart is covered. Do not remove it for at least a week unless it comes off on its own. If it does, apply another piece. At the end of one week, soak in warm water for ten to fifteen minutes and remove the duct tape. File the wart with an Emory board or pumice stone. Apply a new piece of duct tape and leave on for another week. Repeat this process for as long as necessary.
  • Apply Vitamin A once daily directly onto the wart. One way of doing this is to go to the drugstore and purchase capsules that contain 25,000IU of fish oil or fish-liver oil. Cut the capsule open and apply the liquid inside to the wart and gently massage it in.
  • This remedy may sound a little weird but many people swear by it. Soak the wart in warm water until is softens up. Dry thoroughly and then apply a coat of clear nail polish onto it. Once the nail polish dries completely, cover it with a band-aid. You may have to repeat this process several times if the nail polish cracks. It could take close to two months for it to completely eliminate the wart.
  • Many people also claim that massaging a wart with raw potato or potato skins will eliminate it. Rub the potato or potato skin on the wart several times a day for two or three weeks and the wart should be gone.
  • Massage the wart with a raw, crushed garlic clove several times a day. You can also leave it on overnight by covering it with a band-aid. There may be signs of improvement after the first overnight application. Either way the wart should disappear altogether within in a month to a month and a half.
  • Soaking the wart in full strength apple cider for ten to fifteen minutes is one of the most popular home remedies for wart removal. You can do this either by submersing the affected area into the vinegar or by applying it directly with a cotton ball or q-tip. This should be done at least once a day until the wart is gone.

While there is no scientific evidence to support any of these home remedies, there are many people who are willing to say, without a doubt, that they do work. Of course, something that works well for one person may not work at all for another. The only way to know if something will work for you is to try it.
