Facial expression wrinkles start to emerge on the face due to the action of muscle contractions and the loss of elasticity in the skin.

This patient was noticing the early signs of crows feet as well as forehead wrinkles. Although these lines appeared to be quite minor in appearance, she wanted to take action as soon as possible and decided to undergo a Botox treatment performed by Dr. U.

Dr. U placed conservative amounts of the injection in very specific locations on the patient’s face. This was done to relax the muscles which contribute to crows feet wrinkles and forehead lines. The results of this approach are shown here in this video.

Botox is a drug which blocks openings on the nerve fibers. This prevents the release of an excitatory neurotransmitter known as acetylcholine. Normally, this chemical acts as a signal which causes the muscle fibers to contract. This is how Botox works to keep facial muscles relaxed and reduce the appearance of wrinkles on the face.

In this video, the patient is not able to make the usual creases on her forehead. Dr. U applied a very conservative amount of Botox to maintain a very natural looking appearance. Although the injection is commonly associated with frozen looking foreheads, this is not always the case, as this patient demonstrates.

Also, Botox succeeded in improving the appearance of fine crows feet lines, including the minor static wrinkles on the patient’s face.
