Eye Eczema Help | My Story + My Miracle Cream | Lux Life

WATCH THE LATEST 2019 VERSION OF THIS VIDEO: And subscribe to my new & dedicated eczema help YouTube channel!

A video on my personal experience with severe eye eczema and how I get rid of it ASAP using Dr Organics Manuka Honey Rescue Cream. Click 'show more' for more info and links to the creams I use. Sorry for the poor sound quality, my camera microphone was playing up, and at the time I had swollen lingual tonsils that were blocking my throat so it was hard to speak (I eventually got them removed a year later after a lot of issues).

Also it's worth noting that you can not CURE eczema. There is no cure. The best you can do is treat the flare-ups as best as possible and try and prevent the flare-ups happening in the first place by knowing your own skin and knowing what causes them.

My experience with eczema in general started when I was a child, I've had it for as long as I can remember. When I was a teenager it started effecting my eyes, mainly my eyelids, and sometimes my under eye. I found a cream that worked...but then it stopped working. The doctors prescribed numerous different types of hydrocortisone, but I had to use them so often that they thinned my skin and the skin on my eyelids and around my eyes is now permanently discoloured - even makeup doesn't make it look the same colour as the rest of the skin on my face.

So I started ditching the hydrocortisone and refused to use it. In October/November 2012 I tried every type of cream and oil to try and replace it, and nothing worked. My eye eczema flared up so badly that for weeks my eyes were swollen, with skin flaking off and onto my lashes. I went back to the hydrocortisone, but even that no longer worked. On two mornings I woke up with my eyes swollen shut. I wrote a blog post about my history with eczema and how bad it was (see here: and hundreds of people came to my support.

Holland & Barrett saw it and kindly sent me the Dr Organics Manuka Honey Rescue Cream, and I expected it to do the same as all the other creams...nothing. But actually it was a miracle for me, it worked. Within a few days my eye eczema had gone; my eyes were still red, but the dryness had disappeared, and within a few more days so had the redness.

I hope this video helps anyone out there who feels hopeless. Whenever I get a flare-up my self-confidence plummets and I just want to stay inside and hide from the world. I go out the house so conscious of what I look like, and fully aware of how I look like I have some horrid disease.

If you're struggling to find a solution and like me don't like using hydrocortisones and steroid creams, then this cream is the first option you should start with. It's available in the UK (£8.99), Australia ($22), USA ($19), and Canada ($19).

If you live somewhere else, or if you can't afford to spent £8.99 ($22/$12-15) on a jar, then please do try the E45 Intense Recovery cream. It does contain ingredients that I personally do not feel comfortable using on my skin, however it's completely personal choice, it's up to you. It only costs £6 for a huge bottle (and I mean huge!), and it works on eczema anywhere on the body.

The daily face moisturiser I use is from Andrea Hutchins (Ah) Skincare, and is the elderberry moisturiser:

  1. I came across your blog on my lunch today in a search for eye eczema remedies and I was so glad I read it, after reading I immediately rushed to holland and barretts to try the Dr. Organic rescue cream, it has been about 8 hours, I have put it on my eyes about 4 times and the change is unbelievable, I don't normally write comments but I just had to in this case to say thank you so very much because it has been a massive help, I have tried all sorts to try and sort the flare ups and this is the only thing that has actually helped so far, the redness is still there a little bit but the puffiness and tenderness has for the most part disappeared in less that half a day. Thank you so very much. :D

  2. Just want to say a massive thank you! Suffered with eczema round my eyes all my life. I’ve been using steroid cream on my eyes for the past 15 years as it’s the only thing that would keep the eczema at bay. But I didn’t realise you shouldn’t use steroid cream on the face and I’ve completely ruined the skin around my eyes as the skin has thinned and they look horrendous. Tea bag eyes ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. Anyway I have been using this cream for a month now after watching your video, on the first time I applied it the eczema was in full swing but the cream really soothed my eyes. It took about 5 days for me to start getting a positive result the eyes went really red and dry and looked like lizard skin I was ready for giving up but perceived and then on like the 6th day BOOM it’s like I’ve never had eczema I’ve still got the damage from using steroid cream but in my opinion the skin around looks fantastic I wish I knew about this 20 years ago. Sincerely thank you ๐Ÿ™ so much. ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

  3. I just came a cross your blog and read it. My eyes look the same as yours did years ago. I rushed over to Amazon and placed my order. Can't wait to get the cream. I'm on pain and look absolutely hideous. Thank you, thank you and I will be following.

  5. Thank you for this! I found your blog and then watched your video. I have just ordered some of the manuka cream and pray like heck it works. I have not had this problem on my eyes before (eczema is usally behind my ears, or in my ear canal, which sucks), but on my eyes it's driving me crazy. They are so swollen and red and flakey. It actually looks like someone punched me. So thanks for the suggestion, I super hope it works.

  10. I just watched this video. I don’t know where it came from but both of my eyes became so dry, and red and itchy I had no idea it was my eczema occurring! I’ve had eczema since I was a baby. I never had this happen to my eyes of all places. Usually on my arms, behind my knees and my legs. It seemed to have flared up when I started using some makeup removing wipes and wiping my eye makeup off. Now they’re irritated. I’ve tried coconut oil, argan oil and even a moisturizer. No hope. I’m excited to try this out as you also have eczema too! I appreciate you so much for sharing and truly hope and pray this will work, I know it will!

  11. Hi I've been dealing with severe eyelid eczema for one year now. It started off as a small patch and now it has spread making my eyelids and undereyes look dark and red. I try to control the dryness with aquaphor (eucerin) but during the night I can't help the severe itch and I end up scratching a lot sometimes until its bruised and bleeds.... Prior to the eucerin I've tried various products like silver genesis super hydro gel and eye products from the body shop - nothing works. I desperately want to try the Manuka rescue but I can't seem to find it at any pharmacies in south Africa.. And Amazon doesn't ship it here. I really hope I'll find it and it works, thanks for the video, all the best!

  14. Thank you for posting this. I’ve been dealing with this for about a year now, nothing works. Dermatologists have been so unhelpful and I cannot afford to go to an allergist. My eye eczema is so bad that’s it’s put me into depression and I don’t leave my house anymore or go on dates or hang out with friends. I’m going to buy this on amazon now, I really hope it works. I’m seeing good reviews so I’m excited to try it. I can’t live like this anymore. It’s just awful.

  18. Just purchased the cream and am anxiously waiting to try it. Like you, I have suffered my entire life. Some things I have changed the last few months that have helped are taking probiotics. I have tried 3 brands and have gone to a probiotic that contains many strains. That in itself was a huge learning experience but has helped. Next, I eliminated foods that are known to cause inflammation. The biggest one is dairy which breaks my heart. I have occasional ice cream now and then. I have limited my intake of sulfites and sulfates as well (this includes wine, which makes my face turn red and causes a slight allergic reaction which I never put 2 and 2 together). To treat spots on my face, I do a mask of straight up Manuka honey. It's sticky and gross but the relief it offers is worth it. I also use straight up diaper rash cream. The kind I use is Burts Bees and contains 40% zinc oxide. I look ridiculous but only apply it at night. I have used it around my eyes and it's helped a ton. I noticed that in this cream you recommended, it contains both Manuka honey and zinc. I am hoping I can use it during the day on my face without looking like a freak. Good luck to everyone on their eczema adventures.

  19. I had been dealing with eczema since I was a teenager and after over Twenty years, I wasn`t able to heal this ailment. I went to several doctors and used many different recommended products, it worked for short time period, it always returned after stopping using them. After a month of utilizing eczema guide “Jฮฑmzฮฟzฮฟ Kuz” (Google it), my condition vanished permanently.

  22. It's a shame your miracle cream didn't work for me. A couple of hours after applying it a mild flare up became a strong one. Both eyes lids were swollen and irritate. :(

  23. Thanks so much for the vid.
This is the first time I've had this issue and I had no idea why, this one week I was sleepy and rubbed my eyes and then they became dry etc. I'll order the cream and update !

  24. This made my eyes worse . Thanks

  25. I got the Manuka honey cream a while back but everytime I applied it to my eye and mouth eczema patches, it would burn/sting like crazy..the patches were not open sores at the time either. :(

I use Lush's Skin Shangra La for my eczema patches, it does nothing to heal, but it's the only product that doesn't sting at times when my flare ups are bad.

at the moment I have flared up and my eye itself feels like it's on fire. dunno if it's only down to the eczema

  26. thank you for the tip i just ordered it but i did have a question. I like to wear makeup too what would you recommend??? T.I.A.

  28. Thank you so much I have to return to the eighth grade later this summer and had an outbreak of eye eczema which is now going away thanks to your video

  29. I feel I have to suggest to you to go and see ophthalmologist. I think you might have blepharitis what is basically inflammation of eye lids. It has to be treated asap since it might get worse. It can be better, even disappear for a while and then it comes back, sometimes really strong.
I cannot be sure through YouTube but I strongly suggest to check your eyes by specialist.

  30. Literally have the same problem as you! My eyes swell up and get so dry and red so I can't see but what's more of a problem the rest of my face is so oily! I've tried going to the doctors and skin dermatologist but no of there products help. Crossing my fingers and hoping this product works for me because Its my last resort. Xx

  31. I use some all natural African cream and it got rid of the eczema I had since a I was a baby

  32. As an alternative I highly recommend putting aquaphor on eyelids everyday along with taking 1 pill of Zyrtec a day. Also to prevent try not to rub eyes when your hands aren't clean. Also a very popular cause to this, other than weather changes, is rubbing your eyes right after blowing your nose. Taking all that into account and following those steps should help you all a lot

  37. There is shea butter in this. Since I'm allergic to nuts I'm wondering if I would have a reaction. Anyone have this experience?
Edit: I've tried it since and its safe. I've also read that shea butter in cream/lotions etc rarely causes allergic reactions.

  43. I was wondering if any ones had this happen to them;
    • my eye eczema has finally stopped (weirdly with moisturiser diprobase ointment ) and now I only have to use it every 2 weeks or so when the corners of my eyes flake.
•now I get bullied because the eczema made me get wrinkles worse than my mum whose nearly 50 (I'm 14). Also my right eye lid is bigger than my left which looks really weird ๐Ÿ˜‘
