Patient Story: Combination Acne Scar Treatment | West Hollywood, CA | Dr. Jason Emer

Adult acne can be embarrassing and can hinder one from socializing and participating in activities. It’s hard to live your best life when you want to hide at home. That’s why lasers like Clear.+ Brilliant is more than just cosmetics treatments. It is even better for these cases, when used in combination with Isotretinoin, a medication that calms inflammation and helps stop the long-term production of acne.

Clear+Brilliant was used after the active acne calmed down. This is a low-energy, low-density, non-ablative laser that delivers energy into the skin superficially. These laser pulses create millions of microscopic channels in the upper layers of the skin to improve texture, reduce fine lines, minimize pores and replace dead or damaged tissue with healthier and brighter skin. This also encourages the deep remodeling of collagen.

In addition this combination acne-scar treatment plan, included Aerolase, an ablative laser treatment that has become a patient-favorite for skin resurfacing. This is a microsecond erbium laser used to target specifically the superficial part of the skin including scars, sun damage, wrinkles and pores to get aggressive exfoliation over the course of 1-2 weeks depending on the settings.

Towards the end of her series of treatments over the course of a few months, she had almost no scarring, no redness and a vast improvement in her self-confidence. By eight months, she had no blemishes on her skin and was glowing from the inside out with happiness in her new, smooth and clear skin texture.

Fraxel Treatment for Skin Resurfacing | Dr. Jason Emer

Here, we see the patient receiving the Fraxel laser treatment, which is great for skin resurfacing, pore size reduction and can treat textured acne scars, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and sun-damaged skin. The treatment lasts between 20 and 45 minutes. The process includes multiple passes over the problem areas with microcosms of laser energy into the skin to deeply heat the skin and increase surface exfoliation. The laser works to send energy to both the surface and middle layer of the dermis, promoting skin cell regeneration and turnover.

Meticulous and very careful placement of @xeominaesthetics or similar products such as @botoxcosmetic and #dysport allows for improvement in symmetry, especially of the eyebrows of the upper face. As well, fine line sand movement lines are significantly improved. While nothing is perfect and often fine touch-ups are needed after neurotoxin placement, is extremely important to see an expert to get a great result. Many of my male patients want to reduce their wrinkles on the forehead and around the eyes as prevention for the future. Xeomin and #dysport are the known "freezers" on the market that work to prevent movement wrinkles, help reduce oil production, shrink pores, and help facial redness. Too high of a dose can give a "frozen" unnatural look, while too small of a dose offers very little change. So there is an "art" to injection placement and dosing for each person, so it must be customized. It is important to see an expert who knows how to maintain desired masculinity and focus on getting you the ultimate #goals you are looking for. Since your body is constantly producing nerve receptors, these injections require maintenance, otherwise the wrinkles will slowly return as the muscle regains function.
